Our Mission

Due to the large amount of capital and long investment horizons required in order to pursue their strategies, Private Equity funds have traditionally been exclusive investment opportunities offered to high net worth individuals, corporations, and asset managers. The average retail investor seeking to add private companies to their portfolio is generally unable to do so without connections in the space, resulting in a large capital pool left untapped or invested into more accessible investment vehicles. PE Connect seeks to connect private equity fund managers and retail investors by using blockchain to tokenize investment into a fund into “shares” that can be bought and traded.

How does it work?

PE Connect leverages smart contracts built on the Ethereum blockchain network to offer a timed crowd sale (auction) to investors. We work with General Partners to determine how much capital they would like to raise, into how many “shares” (tokens) they would like to break down their capital raise, how long they would like the crowd sale to run for, and how long they would like to retain the funds for investment. These terms are all baked into smart contracts. Investors are then able to buy up these shares, and trade them amongst themselves. The value of each share will reflect the expected returns of the fund on a quarterly basis, and upon the termination of the investment horizon specified in the contract, any remaining funds and returns will be disbursed to investors holding the tokens.

PE Connect wants to help you get your share. (2) Security: The proof-of-work validation system used by the Ethereum blockchain near-instantly confirms every transaction made on it and makes their records immutable, ensuring that funds will never go missing. (3) Reduced Overhead Costs: Transactions happen instantly and without the need for a middle office to settle and clear sales and trades. Where are we going?

Currently, we have a working proof-of-concept on an Ethereum test network (Kovan) that showcases how we can leverage smart contracts to generate a tokenized asset (our test coin is called YodaCoin) that can be sold via a crowd sale from a cryptocurrency wallet to other wallets on the test network in exchange for test Ether, and traded between wallets at a set price via a simple trade blotter interface. With our first clients, our plan is to work with the live Ethereum network, and register the tokens for trade via common cryptocurrency trading platforms such as Coinbase for marketing and accessibility purposes so that all any investor needs to do in order to invest is create or leverage an existing cryptocurrency wallet.
